We have had so much happening at CANV. A big thank to our firefighter from Napa and Yountville. They arrived at our Los Ninos Child Care Centers with toys for over 130 children and Santa courtesy of the Rotary Club added to the festivities. It was a sight to behold with the room full of toys and the children eyes wide open in amazement. We have a great community in Napa. St. Apollinaris Youth Group thank you for the 150 backpacks for our Hope Center clients. We filled them last night and another thank you for the volunteer that helped. More thanks yous to come

The Winter Shelter opened this past Monday and 16 people came out of the very cold temperatures.  There were no incidents and our clients were happy to be in a warm and safe environment.  I have been attending a number of meetings to discuss housing issues in light of the foreclosures and how it is impacting all Social Services . We have yet to see the worst of what is happening to familes.  At least our Winter Shelter , South Napa Shelter and Samaritan Family Shelter are helping to ease this problem

The Winter Shelter will be opening December 8th.  It will be located on Jordan Lane, Napa.  It has been a struggle to obtain the approval from the Board of Supervisors and the City Council but it is now a reality. This will provide a safe environment for this vulnerable population.

FROM ALL OF US AT CANV thank you for making the lives of our neighbors better.  The Napa community has been amazing in the generousity it has shown in helping us help others.  As I write this blog our Food Bank and Meals on Wheels are busy distributing food.  The Hope Center, South Napa Shelter and Samaritan Family Shelter will all be enjoying Thanksgiving Dinner thanks to your donations.    Happy Thanksgiving !
